My first post for

Photo: A turban by Paul Poiret from 1911, on display as part of LACMA’s Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail exhibit that opens t0 the public on October 2.

This Saturday, September 25th is the LACMA Resnick Opening Gala Avant-Garde After Party — a great combination of art and fashion with previews of the following inaugural exhibitions:

Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700–1915 (which we mentioned earlier this summer)
Eye for the Sensual: Selections from the Resnick Collection
Olmec: Colossal Masterworks of Ancient Mexico

Andre Leon Talley shot some of the costumes from the European collection for the September issue of Vogue. Adding to the fun for the evening will be a performance by The Chapin Sisters.

Co-chairs include Jenni Kayne Ehrlich and Maggie Kayne. Host committee members include one of my favorite LA fashion/art couples, stylist Jessica de Ruiter and artist Jed Lind. Other host committee members include Sabina and David Nathanson, Hilary Tisch, Chloe Sevigny, Mary Kate Olsen, Band of Outsider’ Scott Sternberg, Cameron Silver of Decades, gallerist P.C Valmorbida, and models Guinevere van Seenus and Erin Wasson.

Diana Vreeland 3 Sk8 & Surf

In 1982, former editor of Vogue magazine, and then curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, Diana Vreeland reveals that she was always in love with the sport of surfing and equally enjoys skateboarding. She recalls coming out of the museum late at night as skaters were doing ollies and jumping all over the marble front steps and plaza.

ZAINAB toasts Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund Nominee OHNE TITEL

Shortly we are off to the Chateau Marmont for the Vogue/CFDA tea for the Fashion Fund nominees.

Last night, we had a fantastic and perfectly curated soiree for the launch of the new store front space for Zainab Sumu's new store, ZAINAB and a Spring 2010 trunk show & celebration for Alexa Adams and Flora Gil of OHNE TITEL for their Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund Nomination.

Zainab previously operated out of a gorgeous 1920's old Hollywood building by appointment only. This is her new venture onto Melrose, just across La Brea from the delicious M Cafe.
Zainab has the "eye" and the touch. A completely terrific point of view. Ohne Titel are exclusive to Zainab in LA. What I love about Ohne Titel is the amazing attention to detail. The fabrics are beyond. You must see them, feel, them, and try them on to fully understand. The reverse side of the pieces are as amazing as the outside.

My favorite French woman, Flavie Webster of Cerre, me, Alex & Flora of Ohne Titel in Comme Des Garcons & Ohne Titel respectively. They were straight off the plane, dashed to the Sunset Tower, and into the party. Amazingly creative women and incredibly fun! Their partnership--best friends, a Libra & an Aquarius.

This is Jerome Rousseau. A neighbor and darling gentleman who makes truly beautiful shoes, now available at Zainab.
Lips! Odilon designer Stacey Clark wears a black kiss while friend Natalie wears a striking shade of red.

The stunning Zainab & me. Zainab wears Ohne Titel Spring 2010 and Fall 09 Ohne Titel shoes with Jenni Kayne gloves. I wear Ohne Titel Spring 2010 with those now classic YSL booties, Julia Clancey hand drape and AND_i necklaces.
Izze sparkling juice (no added sugars!) and Pearl vodka. The perfect combination!

Flavie & Clay of Cerre on Las Palmas. A MUST visit boutique of their beautiful leather collection and vintage finds.

Fashion Smashion, Today I Rest

Style.com, the online home of Vogue. A site I've looked at least 3x a week for many years, taking in the runway reviews, stories, fashion, and style. And this week, the LA Steel Magnolia made it on their front page for 2 days. I won't be shy, I was pretty taken aback, thrilled, humbled, and "validated" all at once. Of course I have many more amazing looks to show off.
Ha. These 2 weeks were quite abusive at times, so this was really great. Thank you to the amazingly stylish Linlee Allen for this. I have such fun with fashion, its nice to be recognized for it :) I was pretty wiped out when DeLinlee took the shot, but who's going to complain? Me & Vogue's ALT
I was delirious a lot the past 2 weeks. We worked 14 days straight, often from 9AM til between 11 and 2 AM. Good times, bad times, you know I've had my share. Taking Vogue's Editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley around to 4 of our shows at Mercedes Benz LA Fashion Week @ Smashbox Studios (the PR machine here so used to noting all the sponsors) was truly a highlight as well as talking with the dapper & charming Michael Roberts from Vanity Fair. And back at the office, the midnight sillies created some hilarious one-liners, cross-dressing interns, and our own runway walk-offs.... Nicky H being so sweet in trying to help me sneak in Marquee into S Bar was another memorable moment. Agh, I thought we could do it! Oh well, the release of dancing later on like freaks at Cinespace saved my soul for a bit. Did you like being on stage Lily Bird?
Julia Clancey's show was amazing, especially after all the US Customs drama. Paco didn't make it to the Veronika Jeanvie show as scheduled, but I am emailing Alexandre in Paris a photo of my vintage Paco Rabanne dress for the man himself to authenticate.

So, now to rest for a bit. No shows, no cameras, headsets, mics, crews, paparazzi, music nothing. Human & sensory detox.
